LANCASTER, Pa. — Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity on Tuesday announced that more than $3,000 worth of unclaimed property was found for fans of the Lancaster Stormers who attended last Tuesday’s baseball game against the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars.

“The Lancaster Stormers came out strong from the first inning, taking the lead and never looking back,” Treasurer Garrity said. “Like the Stormers, my team and I will never stop working to reunite people with their unclaimed property. I encourage everyone to see if they have unclaimed property available by visiting our website today.

"It only takes a minute to search, and you never know if you might hit a home run of your own by finding some money you didn’t realize belonged to you.”

According to Garrity's office, the Stormers won the game, 11-0. Fans who attended were assisted by the Treasury's outreach staff in searching for unclaimed property.

A total of 29 fans had $3,241.39 worth of unclaimed property returned to them, Garrity said.

“The Lancaster Stormers wants to thank Treasurer Garrity and her team for an amazing night at the Stormers last week,” said Chris Heal, Business Development Manager of the Stormers. “This was the Stormers’ first time having the Treasurer here to look for unclaimed property, and we could not have been happier with the turnout. From the fans we talked with that evening they were excited to see what unclaimed property they had and they look forward to seeing the Treasurer at more games next season.”

Unclaimed property can include things like dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks, insurance policies, contents of forgotten safe deposit boxes and more. State law requires businesses to report unclaimed property to Treasury after three years of dormancy.

The treasury is working to return more than $4.5 billion in unclaimed property to more than one in ten Pennsylvanians. The average unclaimed property claim is worth about $1,600. Treasurer Garrity has reportedly returned more than $700 million in unclaimed property to hardworking Pennsylvanians, businesses, nonprofits, and local government agencies.
