LANCASTER, Pa. — A York man accused of sexually assaulting three minor victims in Lancaster County from 2003 to 2008 was convicted of 17 offenses relating to his crime, prosecutors said this week.

George Wakeley, 62, was found guilty on March 18 after a two-day trial before Lancaster County Judge Jeffrey Conrad, the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office said.

Wakeley's victims ranged in age from 5 to 12 at the time of the sexual abuse, which occurred at a home on the 1500 block of Rothsville Road in Warwick Township, according to prosecutors.

He was convicted of eight counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, three counts of corruption of minors, and six counts of indecent assault of a person less than 13.

Assistant District Attorney Fritz Haverstick prosecuted the case and stated the depravity of the defendant’s actions during his closing argument.

“I thought I’d seen all of the evil and vile acts a man can do to a child, but then you see a man do something this depraved. Who can come up with something that sick? George Wakeley, that’s who,” Haverstick said as he pointed at the defendant.

The jury returned a guilty verdict after less than 25 minutes of deliberations, prosecutors said.

One of the victims disclosed the abuse to the Northern Lancaster County Regional Police in 2018 before an extensive investigation resulted in charges being filed on November 21, 2022.

Wakeley has been in federal prison on child pornography charges since 2015. He will be sentenced on this conviction at a later date.

Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Detective Eric Zimmerman filed charges and testified at trial.
