LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — Another sale, another happy customer at CI Records & Skates in downtown Lancaster.
Black Friday at the store may be over, but owner Jeremy Weiss says his holiday shopping sale is far from finished.
“Cyber Monday is fairly new in the 30-year range that we have, and I think it’s really awesome to give the opportunity to people who don’t live in the area to patronize local businesses,” Weiss said.
Weiss has owned the store since 1995.
His business is one of several participating in Cyber Monday, presented by the City of Lancaster and the Lancaster City Alliance.
The event is a way for people to support the city’s small businesses without having to leave home.
“It’s wonderful that it’s spilled into retail," Weiss said. "People are starting to realize that if, ‘hey I found this business through the internet, then I might get a great deal.’”
More than a dozen businesses are featured on the city’s official website, each offering a different online deal for one day only.
“We have decided to do 15% off site-wide, so it’s a way to include the internal community and everyone across the country,” Weiss said.
Kim Grandzol is assistant manager at Sweetish, a Swedish candy store on Queen Street.
The business will also have a Cyber Monday deal.
“All of our Advent Calendars in-store and online are 50% off," Grandzol said. "There’s also some other sales. Juleskum, a classic Christmas treat of Strawberry foam marshmallow, is buy one, get one. Pandy, our sugar-free candy, is buy two, get one free online for Cyber Monday."
While customers can enjoy the pick-n-mix wall in person, the company is expected to fulfill more online orders on Monday.
“We do most of our business online," Grandzol said. "We really blew up through TikTok, and people from across the country order online from our website."
