2 police forces will merge to form Lebanon County Regional Police Department

LEBANON COUNTY, Pa. — Two police forces in Lebanon County announced that they are moving forward with plans to regionalize.

The North Lebanon Township and North Cornwall Township police departments anticipate becoming the Lebanon County Regional Police Department by Jan. 1, 2025.

Officers say they began discussing the merger over 15 months ago.

The newly formed police department will employ 24 police officers. They are in need of one more officer to reach 24; applications can be picked up at either police department or found online.

"If anyone knows of any certified police officers looking to be a part of this new department, have them apply," the North Lebanon Township Police Department said in a Facebook post.

The departments say officers with the Lebanon County Regional Police Department will receive a great benefit package thanks to a new police contract that was agreed upon and signed last month.

The North Lebanon police vowed to keep residents of both municipalities informed as the new force gets its website and social media pages up and running.
