LEBANON, Pa. — A Lebanon man will serve up to 300 months in prison after being prosecuted in federal court for the attempted sexual exploitation of a child, U.S. Attorney Gerad M. Karam announced Wednesday.

Mason Morey, 27, was sentenced on November 20 by U.S. District Court Judge Malachy E. Mannion, Karam said in a press release.

In November and December 2022, Karam said, Morey was communicating online with what he believed to be the father of a 13-year-old girl who was offering his daughter for sex. But Morey was actually communicating with an undercover law enforcement officer, according to Karam.

Morey and the officer eventually arranged a meeting where Morey believed he was going to have sex with the girl. Morey traveled to Wilkes-Barre on December 7, 2022, for the meeting, Karam said.

When he arrived, Morey was taken into custody. Arresting officers confiscated several cell phones in Morey's possession, and forensic examinations of the devices found that he was creating pornographic images and videos with two minors and transmitting the images to another person.

Morey was indicted on numerous child pornography charges in February.
