LEBANON COUNTY, Pa. — Emergency crews were at the scene of a multi-vehicle crash near the border of Schuylkill County and Lebanon County last night.

According to Pennsylvania State Police in Jonestown, the five-vehicle crash occurred around mile marker 98.3 on Interstate 81 northbound between Exit 90: PA 72 - Lebanon in Lebanon County and Exit 100: PA 443 - Pine Grove in Schuylkill County.

Troopers say a Kia Sportage was driving north in the right lane of the highway when it attempted to merge and rear-ended a Nissan Kicks in the left lane. A Hyundai Sonata driving behind the Kicks was unable to stop and hit the back end of the Sportage when it attempted to merge lanes. As a result, the Kicks was pushed forward and hit the rear end of a Honda Civic driving in the left lane, which then struck the back end of the Pontiac in front of it.

Jennifer Perez-Wolfkeil, 66, of Niceville, Florida, the passenger of the Sportage, was killed in the crash. The Sportage's driver and Sonata's driver were both taken to the hospital with injuries, according to PSP.

The Sportage, Kicks, Sonata and Civic were all disabled after the crash, state police said. The Pontiac was able to be driven from the scene.
