LEBANON COUNTY, Pa. — Pennsylvania State Police in Jonestown are investigating a fatal Feb. 19 car crash.

According to a filed police report, the crash happened as a tractor-trailer traveled east on Woleber Road. The truck continued traveling downhill and approached a properly posted stop sign at the intersection of Woleber and Hilltop Roads.

The tractor-trailer, driven by Hugo Medranoespinal, 41, from California, reportedly failed to come to a complete stop at the stop sign and continued to travel into the southbound lane on Hilltop Road (SR 645).

A vehicle driven by Ira Mast, 74, from Myerstown, was traveling southbound on Hilltop Road at an unknown speed and was reportedly unable to see the tractor-trailer enter the lane due to a slight dip in the road.

Mast continued southbound and reportedly struck the tractor-trailer.

Following the crash, the tractor-trailer driver reportedly parked in front of the stop sign.

The force of the impact caused Mast's head, who was reportedly not wearing his seatbelt, to strike his rear-view mirror. He was transported to Reading Hospital where he was later pronounced dead due to his injuries.

PSP Jonestown is investigating.
