LEBANON COUNTY, Pa. — Liberty Warbirds, a nonprofit organization that serves as a flying museum, brought out a fully restored Bell UH-1H Huey helicopter to the main campus at the Lebanon VA Medical Center on Friday, Sept. 20.
Those who attended got to see a full flight display and landing celebration.
The helicopter was used in combat during the Vietnam War. Now that it's in a restored state the Warbirds say it allows veterans to share their stories from using the aircraft.
"Anything you see about Vietnam there is going to be a Huey in it because they were all over Vietnam," said U.S. Army veteran Martin Kleiner. "So if you were in Vietnam [whether] you were a cook or a clerk, you probably flew in it at least once."
The mission of The Liberty Warbirds is to educate people on the role of the UH-1H Huey helicopter during the Vietnam War.
