Black ice blamed for Mifflin County school bus crash

The driver and the three students riding the bus were not injured in the Tuesday morning crash, which a district official said was caused by black ice.

MCVEYTOWN, Pa. — A school bus carrying three elementary students in Mifflin County crashed due to suspected black ice Tuesday morning, according to the Mifflin County School District.

The bus slid off the roadway while traveling on Parchwood Road near McVeytown at 7:04 a.m., according to district superintendent Vance Varner.

No one was injured, Varner said.

The three students riding the bus were traveling to Strodes Mills Elementary School, according to Varner.
