MILLERSBURG, Pa. — When you think of firemen rescuing cats, you generally picture a wayward kitty stuck in a tree.
However, a northern Dauphin County fire company recently reported a new twist on the old story; in this case, the cat was stuck inside the walls of a home.
According to the Millersburg Fire Company, firefighters in Company 20 were dispatched Sunday afternoon to a home in the borough for the report of a trapped cat.
The pet, named Frey, somehow got inside the walls of the home and decided to do some exploring, the fire company said in a Facebook post.
Responding firefighters followed the sounds of Frey's meows to get an approximate location, then used thermal imaging and a sewer camera to locate the trapped kitty in the floor of the home's second-story bedroom.
After cutting a hole in the floor, the homeowner could coax Frey out with some pet treats, the fire company said.
Frey was no worse for wear after the adventure.
Firefighters were on the scene for just over an hour.
