LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — Many students are heading back to school today.
Some are starting their very first day of kindergarten while others are beginning their college journey.
Today, Millersville University students start their first day of classes, with some leaving home for the very first time.
Just last week, parents and loved ones helped move their kids into the dorms on campus. FOX43 was there chatting with some of the incoming freshmen about their feelings starting at Millersville.
Some students shared they’re nervous about meeting new people, starting their classes, and finding their way around campus. But at the same time, they can’t wait to make new friends and really find their place at the school.
Parents as well as the President of Millersville University said they’re here to support the students in many ways.
Kadie Flinn, who helped her daughter move-in, shared that given they’re from out of state. “I just want to make sure her overall mental health is intact, just making sure she is, ya know, getting her new tribe,” Flinnn said.
President of Millersville University, Dr. Daniel Wubah, expressed that Millersville is a community and they support each other. He encourages students to also get involved outside of the classroom.
“There are leadership programs, there are sporting activities, so there is so much that we offer. I want them to take advantage of every opportunity on this campus,” Wubah said.
According to Millersville, enrollment is up this year with about 1,200 new students.
They also have some new programs this year for students to check out and they are currently renovating the new location for their school of business.
