YORK, Pa. — Are you ready for a journey beyond the ordinary?
That's what kids can experience at numerous camps offered at the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts in Harrisburg this Summer.
Kristin James, STEAM Curriculum Manager at the Whitaker Center, joined the FOX43 Morning Team to talk about the camps and demo experiments that kids can enjoy.
The first experiment involved an activity that kids can enjoy in the center's meteorology or chemistry camps to learn about air pressure.
She also had the anchors do a second experiment with balloons to explain Newton's Law.
James said, "Summer camps are fun, relaxing but it's also a time where kids can be in the classroom and get hands-on experience with science and have some fun while they're doing it."
When asked how the camps help prevent students from experiencing a "summer slide," James said, "If you stay engaged in education activities over the Summer students really come back to the new school year in their routine ready to learn and pick up where they left off."
There are several camps open for registration, including 'Full STEAM Ahead: Careers in STEAM' and a 'Content Creators Camp' where students can explore the world of YouTube and social media.
If your child has an interest in science and adventure, it won't be hard to find a camp they'll enjoy.
