YORK COUNTY, Pa. — A fatal motorcycle crash closed a portion of Winterstown Road in York County Thursday night.

York County 911 Dispatch said the first call came in at 9:10 p.m., and crews were dispatched to investigate a single-vehicle crash.

The driver of the motorcycle, Kevin Pritchett, 24, of Harford County, Maryland, was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries around 10:15 p.m., the York County Coroner's Office said.

According to the coroner's office, Pritchett was driving north on Winterstown Road when he crashed near the intersection of Dairy Road. Troopers say he hit a metal utility box on the right shoulder of the roadway.

Witnesses at the scene allegedly say the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed.

The coroner's office reported that Pritchett was wearing a helmet. His next of kin have been notified. No autopsy will be performed, but a routine toxicology was obtained.
