Megan Schmidt makes a point of talking with her 10-year-old daughter Sophia about their day and to monitor her anxiety. A new study by On Our Sleeves finds it’s a balance that many working parents struggle with, and that a third have made job changes due to their children’s mental health.

PENNSYLVANIA, USA — National Daughter's Day 2024 is Sept. 25, according to National Day Calendar, giving parents and their daughters across the U.S. have a day to celebrate their bond.

Origins say that the day wasn't created in the U.S. though, but was taken from India when they created the National Day in 2007.

India first created the day to recognize daughters because daughters were valued less than sons. The day is meant to break stereotypes around daughters and to emphasize the significance of daughters in families.

The U.S. then adopted the day from India in the 2000's.

Families across the U.S. celebrate this day to emphasize the importance of a bond between parents and their daughters.

Here are a few activities in Central Pa. that you can enjoy with your daughter:

West Lampeter Community Fair (Sept. 25 - Sept. 27)

New Cumberland Apple Festival (Sept. 28)
