The Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs, Dr. Latika Davis-Jones, hosted a kickoff event for National Recovery Month in Harrisburg.

HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP) hosted an event in Harrisburg to mark the beginning of National Recovery Month.

The event was called Share the Hope: A Recovery Story, and featured DDAP Secretary Dr. Latika Davis-Jones. The secretary spoke on the importance of wellness in a person's recovery journey.

"This is a time of celebration, this is a time of hope and gratitude and definitely a time to celebrate recovery and to recover out loud" Dr. Davis-Jones said.

The secretary stood with individuals in recovery from substance use and community recovery organizations.

There were also wellness events, demonstrations, speakers, food trucks and tours of Pennsylvania's first licensed mobile substance use disorder (SUD) treatment unit.

The event also emphasized the Shapiro Administration's commitment to empowering sustained recovery. Information on this can be found in the DDAP recovery house licensure program as well as regional hubs initiative.
