DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. — June is National Rose Month and Hershey Gardens is ready to celebrate, as only they can, with 3.5 acres of roses already in bloom.
That's around 3,000 roses in full bloom, with 115 different varieties of the popular flower.
And get this, if you have "Rose" in your first, middle, or last name - you'll get free admission to the Gardens all month long. (Must show ID)
On Father's Day, all dads get in free and on June 20th, they'll have music in the Gardens from 6-8 p.m.
Amy Zeigler, the senior director of Hershey Gardens, shared that bringing the community together for events like this, is what they're all about.
“This is something Milton Hershey really created for the community to enjoy and it’s very important to us that we welcome them as much as we can with a lot of different varied programs to keep them coming back," Zeigler said.
Several gardeners are on staff at Hershey Gardens, caring for the flowers every day. And volunteers come in every week during the summer to help deadhead the roses - removing spent blooms so that it encourages new growth.
So, a lot of stunning views to take in while walking through the gardens.
“There’s a lot going on in the world right now and this is a really great place to kind of put your phone down, just enjoy the beauty,” Zeigler said.
Summer hours for Hershey Gardens are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Monday, September 2.
Tickets can be purchased in-person or online.
