State police are asking for help in 1983 cold case

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. — State Police in Northumberland County are asking for help with a decades-old cold case. 

Two Syndertown residents found a newborn baby girl in bags on July 18, 1983, while walking along State Route 4005. 

Police say the baby suffocated after something was put in her mouth. 

The case remains active with continued efforts into DNA analysis.
