HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Pennsylvania State Capitol Complex was evacuated on Saturday evening after local officials received an email threatening to set off "lethal devices" unless President Biden denounced the state of Israel.
The email has circulated on social media, with representatives confirming they received the threat and expressing deep concern about the situation.
Representative Ryan Bizzaro, representing PA's 3rd Legislative District, stated, "Can confirm. I'm tired of the foolery and unhinged behavior. Let's hope they find this menace."
The email, titled "My manifesto," also detailed that the individual allegedly inside one of the two buildings they planned to attack and would not leave until their demands were met.
The Pennsylvania Department of General Services released the following statement regarding the evacuation:
"On Saturday, the Pennsylvania Capitol Police evacuated the Pennsylvania Capitol Complex and Judicial Center after a bomb threat was emailed to all members of the House of Representatives and Senate.
The Capitol Police immediately worked with House and Senate security, as well as the Office of the PA Courts, to issue an immediate evacuation notice to those in the buildings.
Following a comprehensive search, Capitol Police, federal, state, and local authorities determined there was no credible threat and the buildings were cleared to reopen."
