LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — A child was struck by a car this morning while trying to board their school bus, according to the East Cocalico Township Police Department (ECTPD).

Officials say the crash occurred at the intersection of Bunker Hill Road and North Reamstown Road just after 7:05 a.m. on Oct. 23.

Police arrived to find the 12-year-old victim lying on the pavement, the ECTPD said. The driver of the striking vehicle did remain at the scene.

A preliminary investigation determined that the child was attempting to cross the street to board their school bus. Multiple witness statements indicate that the school bus had their lights flashing and stop sign down at the time of the collision, officers said.

The intersection was closed while crews worked. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with further information is asked to call Officer Odenwalt at the East Cocalico Township Police Department at 717-336-1725.
