Pennsylvania State Police release Labor Day weekend enforcement numbers

Pennsylvania State Police reported their crash and enforcement statistics over Labor Day weekend.

PENNSYLVANIA, USA — The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) announced the reports from their Labor Day weekend enforcement initiative, including nearly 600 crashes and over 500 DUI arrests.

From Aug. 30 through Sept. 2, the PSP recorded weekend crash statistics including total crashes, fatal crashes, people killed, people injured, driving under the influence (DUI) crashes and DUI-related crashes. The PSP also recorded enforcement statistics including DUI arrests, speeding citations, child seat citations, seat belt citations and other citations.

For crash statistics, there were 580 crashes, five fatal crashes, six people killed, 170 people injured, 65 DUI crashes and three DUI-related fatal crashes, according to police.

For enforcement statistics, there were 514 DUI arrests, 7,069 speeding citations, 121 child seat citations, 889 seat belt citations and 16,786 other citations, according to police.

The statistics cover incidents only investigated by the state police and do not include incidents in which other law enforcement agencies responded.
