Officials: Missing York County hiker found dead

Joshua Markey, 47, of Red Lion, was found dead on Monday. No foul play is suspected, police say.

YORK COUNTY, Pa. — A missing York County hiker has been found dead on Monday, State Police say.

Joshua Markey, 47, of Red Lion, was last heard from at about 8:43 a.m. on Aug. 15, when he parked his vehicle off Furnace Road, just west of Indian Steps Road in Lower Chanceford Township.

An avid hiker, Markey was believed to have been walking on the Mason-Dixon Trail with Pennsylvania State Game Lands 83, according to police.

On Aug. 19, officials say they located Markey's body in the Game Lands. The York County Coroner responded to the scene, and officials say that no foul play is suspected in Markey's death.

An autopsy has been scheduled.
