Perry County borough asks residents to stop all non-essential water usage due to drought

The borough of Duncannon issued a mandatory Water Conservation Notice this week due to a drought emergency.

DUNCANNON, Pa. — A Perry County borough this week declared a mandatory Water Conservation Notice due to a drought emergency.

The borough of Duncannon said Wednesday that residents are prohibited from all non-essential water usage for the duration of the emergency.

According to borough officials, examples of non-essential water usage includes:

  • Watering lawns, gardens, landscaped areas, trees, shrubs and outdoor plants
  • Washing paved surfaces, such as streets, sidewalks, driveways, garages, parking areas, tennis courts and patios
  • Operating water fountains, artificial waterfalls and reflecting pools
  • Washing vehicles
  • Serving water in eating places unless specifically requested by the individual
  • Filling and topping off swimming pools

"We will inform you when the prohibited water use restrictions are lifted," the borough said. "Thank you for your cooperation."
