Perry County man killed in New Year's Day crash

PERRY COUNTY, Pa. — A Perry County man was pronounced dead following a single-vehicle crash in Snyder County.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, the crash happened on Jan. 1 at 2:29 p.m. along State Route 104 in Washington Township. A 1999 Volkswagen Beetle was traveling southbound when, according to troopers, it failed to execute a right-hand turn. 

The car left the road and struck an embankment, then hit a utility pole and came to a final rest in a grassy area on the west side of the roadway, facing north. 

The driver, later identified as Brock Kerstetter, 27, from Millerstown, Perry County, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was ejected from the car as it struck the embankment. 

State Route 104 was closed in the area of the crash for three hours for investigation, according to police.
