A rabbittransit bus waits to depart from the King Street Station in York on Sunday, January 28, 2024.

YORK, Pa. — There's a new stroller policy on some of rabbittransit's fixed routes, the transportation company said this week.

Each bus on York fixed routes 1E and 1W and Capital Region Route 3 now have a designated location for riders to place one unfolded stroller, rabbittransit said Tuesday in a press release.

This pilot initiative is part of a continuous effort by rabbittransit to increase comfort for community members who utilize the local public transit system, the company said.

Riders using the stroller area will be asked to park the stroller against the wall, with the handles or child facing the aisle, and lock the wheels. If the stroller area is already occupied when a passenger with a stroller boards, then the second stroller should be folded.

Strollers brought on board must be compact like umbrella strollers, and riders are reminded to avoid blocking the aisle with a stroller or any hanging items, for their own safety and the safety of other passengers.

Riders are encouraged to sit near their stroller if possible, but they can stand if there are no seats available.
