PENNSYLVANIA, USA — The American Red Cross is emphasizing the continued need for blood and platelet donations this fall.
Due to the hurricanes that slammed the U.S. in October, blood supply momentum has to remain steady, according to the Red Cross. Eligible individuals, especially those with type O blood and individuals giving platelets, are encouraged to make their donations before the holidays.
The disruption in the ability to collect blood can affect lifesaving medical care.
Individuals who donate blood Nov. 1-17 will receive a $10 e-gift card to a merchant of their choice and are automatically enrolled in a chance to win one of two $7,000 gift cards. More information can be found here.
To donate blood or platelets, you can visit RedCrossBlood.org, call 1-800-REDCROSS, download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App or enable the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device.
