LANCASTER, Pa. — The “Bike it Lancaster” program now offers electric bikes as the service expands outside the city and into two local townships.
The bike-sharing program is now moving into East Lampeter and Manheim townships.
“Bike it Lancaster” launched in 2017 and was designed for users to take short trips across the city using active transit. The expansion also includes 25 electric bikes or E-Bikes.
The program offers an annual membership which allows users to ride an e-bike for $1.50 for the first hour. Without a membership, e-bike rentals are $3 for 30 minutes.
In a press release from the City of Lancaster Mayor Danene Sorace said in part, “Expanding bike It Lancaster into neighboring communities and introducing e-bikes aligns with our mission to offer active transportation options and improve mobility. We’re excited to see this program grow and connect even more people to places in and around Lancaster."
The expanded bike share network now includes three stations in Manheim Township and one in East Lampeter.
Users can pick up or drop off pedal bikes at stations located at Stehli Silk Mill, Stauffer Park, The Foundry Apartments, and St. Joseph University.
Riders who download the Movatic app can pick up a bike from any station and return it to any other station.
