HERSHEY, Pennsylvania — Police in Derry Township are searching for a suspect who struck and ran over a victim with a vehicle on Sunday in an apparent road rage incident.

Authorities say that officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Park Avenue (State Route 743) around 9:40 p.m. on Oct. 7 after receiving reports of a pedestrian getting hit by a vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim lying along the edge of the roadway with severe injuries.

Police stated that the involved vehicle, a silver or light gray late model Toyota Sequoia, fled the scene at a high rate of speed; the driver recklessly passed other traffic on the opposite side of Park Avenue while fleeing.

The suspect's vehicle was last seen traveling south on Park Avenue and then turning left onto Chocolate Avenue (State Route 422), heading east.

The victim was transported to Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center to receive treatment for their serious/critical injuries. At this time, the victim's name and current condition are not being released, police said.

Authorities believe that this was a road rage incident, and when the victim got out of their vehicle, the suspect's vehicle was intentionally steered towards the victim before running them over and fleeing the scene.

The Derry Township Police Department is seeking assistance from the public in attempting to identify the driver of the described Toyota Sequoia. The vehicle should have damage to the front, especially the grille area. Officers have reason to believe that the driver's side may be damaged as well from the victim being dragged and thrown from that side as the suspect vehicle fled.

"We realize that many drivers have dashcam video systems installed in their vehicles and those dashcams may have recorded the suspect vehicle before, during or after the assault occurred," police said in a statement. "We are asking anyone with such footage to contact our department as soon as possible."

Anyone with information related to this incident can contact the Derry Township Police Department at 717-534-2202 and ask for an available officer.
