ADAMS COUNTY, Pa. — One person is dead following a collision along a stretch of Route 16.
According to a PennDOT spokesperson, 3170 Waynesboro Pike was closed in both directions near the Adams/Franklin County line due to a head-on crash involving a tractor-trailer.
Pennsylvania State Police say the Liberty Township crash occurred when a Jeep Cherokee driving east on Route 16 lost control due to heavy rain conditions and slid off the right side of the roadway. The Jeep hit the embankment, flipped onto its driver side and slid back across the roadway into oncoming traffic, where it hit a tractor trailer driving west.
Jocelyn Megee, 22, of Fairfield, the driver of the Cherokee, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to PSP.
The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured, State Police said.
The crash reportedly happened around 7:10 p.m. The road was closed for several hours, according to PennDOT spokesperson Fritzi Schreffler.
