MOUNT JOY, Pa. — A portion of Route 283 in Lancaster County will be closed this weekend so that workers can set beams on the Strickler Road Bridge, which spans the westbound lanes of the highway in Rapho Township.

The bridge has been closed since last October after being struck by a vehicle, the Department of Transportation said in a press release.

Westbound Route 283 will be closed at the Mount Joy/Route 230 Exit from 8 p.m. Friday until 6 Monday, according to PennDOT.

Motorists traveling westbound in Route 283 should exit at the Mount Joy/Route 230 Exit, then take Route 230 west through Mount Joy Borough to Cloverleaf Road, then turn right and proceed to the Cloverleaf Road Interchange and westbound Route 283, PennDOT said.

A detour is already in place for Strickler Road using Route 772 (Mount Joy Road), Breneman Road and Zink Road.

Ryland Construction Company, Inc., of Mount Wolf, is the contractor on this $652,696 project, which is expected to be completed by October 11.
