LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — Scott Aukamp, a second-grade teacher at Smith-Wade-El Elementary School in Lancaster County, participated in Wheel of Fortune's Teachers' Week, coming home with full pockets.

On Tuesday, Sept. 24, Aukamp took the national television stage and won a total of $59,250 with $40,000 of his earnings coming from the bonus round along with a trip to Barbados.

Aukamp chose the topic 'What are you doing' for the bonus round and after picking his consonants and vowels, he guessed the winning answer on his first try.

In an interview with Maggie Sajak after Aukamp won, he said that he has been watching Wheel of Fortune for 40 years and that it helped him get to his end goal.

When asked about playing during Teachers' Week he stated, "This is a great opportunity that the Wheel of Fortune does, honoring the teachers. I met some fantastic people backstage. Everyone deserves it and I hope everyone goes home with lots of money and prizes and everything like that."

Aukamp was accompanied by his wife Susan on the winning day.
