Pennsylvania voters weigh in as Governor Josh Shapiro is passed up for VP Pick

As the news hit the streets of Scranton, voters are weighing in.

PENNSYLVANIA, USA — Vice President and presumptive Democratic nominee, Kamala Harris will officially be running alongside Minnesota Governor Tim Walz in the November Election. The announcement means Governor Josh Shapiro will stay as Pennsylvania's Governor.

As the news hit the streets of Scranton, voters are weighing in.

"It would've been nice- it would've been a good pick, but it is what it is," said Juan Guzman of Scranton.

"It's kind of disappointing because he was a good governor," said Shawn Merritt of the Poconos.

Some voters think Shapiro's name on the ticket would've helped in the battleground state of Pennsylvania.

"Having 65% approval rating, I think he could've helped her carry the state. But unfortunately, it's not going to be," said Mark Scott of Scranton.

While others say a VP pick isn't enough to sway people at the polls.

"I think they already have their minds set of who they're going to pick. Honestly, I think like what trump said, it's rigged," said Merritt.

While Shapiro was passed over this time, some in Scranton believe this is just the beginning for the governor.

"He's one of the upcoming ones. He's going to get his chance. That's why at first I wanted him to wait, because he's the future. I think going in right now at vice president wouldn't have been a good move for him," said Scott.
