Harrisburg Police respond to shots fired, investigation ongoing

HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Harrisburg Police are investigating a shooting that occurred on Thursday, Oct. 24.

Around 12 p.m., police responded to N 13th and Herr Streets after receiving reports that shots were fired.

When police arrived at the scene, they found a juvenile male who was suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, according to police. The victim is in stable condition after being transported to a local hospital to receive emergency treatment. 

Due to the incident, Downey Elementary School was on lockdown for about one hour. Parents were notified and students and staff were safe, according to a Harrisburg School District official.

An investigation was initiated and anyone with information is asked to contact the Harrisburg Police Bureau at 717-558-6900. Tips or other information regarding the incident can also be submitted to the CRIMEWATCH website.
