HARRISBURG, Pa. — Pennsylvania State Police will conduct increased enforcement efforts over the Christmas weekend, citing an increase in traffic on the commonwealth's roadways.
The enforcement is part of an effort to reduce the number of crashes and injuries, according to State Police.
Troopers will be focusing on drivers that are driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, driving aggressively and/or distracted, and speeding, police said.
State Police encourages travelers to be patient, allow extra time to travel to their destinations, and if planning on consuming alcohol, have a designated sober driver.
"We also ask all occupants in the vehicle to wear their seatbelts and make sure your child passengers are in the proper safety seats and the seats are installed correctly," State Police said. "With everyone’s cooperation we can continue our efforts toward highway safety."
