FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. — Update, 10:45 a.m. (Feb. 7): State Police have identified the two people who were killed in the crash, which occurred shortly after 2 p.m. Monday in St. Thomas Township.
Richard E. Cowan, 69, of Chambersburg, and Maura J. Boyce, 42, of Mercersburg, were both pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred on the 8100 block of Lincoln Way West.
Cowan and Boyce were the drivers of the two vehicles involved, according to State Police.
A passenger in Cowan's vehicle suffered minor injuries, State Police said.
According to police, Cowan's vehicle, a 2015 Ford Transit, was traveling east on Route 30 when it crossed over the center lane and struck Boyce's 2019 Hyundai Accent head-on.
Update, 9 p.m.: According to Franklin County 911 Dispatch, Route 30 has been reopened. No closures along the route are currently noted on 511PA.
PSP is handling the investigation.
Previously: Pennsylvania State Police are currently responding to a Franklin County crash.
According to Trooper Megan Frazer with PSP, the crash occurred along the 8100 block of Lincoln Way West in St. Thomas Township, near Campbell Run Road and State Route 30.
As a result, Route 30 is currently closed and the public has been asked to avoid the area.
