'Stuff The Bus' event brings school and health supplies to three school districts in Pennsylvania

United Way of the Captial Region donors, volunteers, corporate supporters and local community members stuffed three buses of supplies for local school districts.

PENNSYLVANIA, USA — Friday's "Stuff The Bus" event was one of 85 projects at 51 nonprofit agencies throughout the region for the United Way of the Capital Region's annual Day of Caring, this one being in Cumberland County.

Organizers say this event provides school and health supplies to school districts in the area.

"As kids go back to school, they often start with what they need, books, crayons, all those things, but as months go by they often run out and many families in our region can't afford to replenish those so that's where we come in," said Rae Lynn Cox, the vice president of communications and donor engagement of United Way of the Captial Region. "We hope to lift that burden by supplying them with all the resources they need to get through the entire school year."

Three busses were stuffed full of supplies which will be distributed to schools in Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry Counties.

Supplies will go to the different districts participating in the Ready for School, Ready to Succeed initiative that helps prepare children for kindergarten.
