YORK COUNTY, Pa. — The York County Coroner was dispatched to Wellspan York Hospital on Nov. 10 just before 9 p.m. to investigate the circumstances behind a 5-year-old's death.
The child, later identified as Daniel Esh of North Codorus Township, was found unresponsive in a building on his family's farm. A generator was in the area, but it wasn't known for certain if Esh had been exposed to the generator while it was operating.
However, Monday's autopsy results revealed that Esh's cause of death was due to asphyxia caused by carbon monoxide toxicity; the results confirmed that the boy had been in the area of the generator while in operation.
