YORK COUNTY, Pa. — A bicyclist was killed after being struck by a car in York County Saturday morning.

It happened on Mt. Pisgah Road, near the intersection with Ducktown Road, in Hellam Township around 10:15 a.m. on July 27, according to the York County Coroner's Office.

According to the coroner, Joseph Klinedinst, 48, from Springfield Township, who was wearing a helmet, was headed west on Mt Pisgah Road at Ducktown Road, when he was hit by the side of an SUV that was pulling out to go east on Mt Pisgah Road.

Klinedinst was a teacher at Dallastown Area High School. Superintendent Joshua A. Doll released the following statement to the community:

"It is with a heavy heart that I write to inform you of the passing of a beloved member of our school community, Mr. Joseph Klinedinst. He was not only a dedicated teacher at the Dallastown Area High School, but also a cherished colleague and friend to many of us.

Mr. Klinedinst has been an integral part of DASD, touching the lives of countless students with his passion for teaching and commitment to their success. His enthusiasm for technology education and support for his students will be deeply missed.

As we navigate this difficult time, I want to emphasize the importance of coming together as a community to support one another. Grieving the loss of someone dear to us is never easy, and it is essential that we lean on each other for strength and comfort.  We will be providing resources for students and staff who may need support during this time. Our school counselors will be available tomorrow, Monday, July 29th from 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM in the HS Counseling Office for anyone needing additional support.

Please join me in keeping The Klinedinst Family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time."
