YORK, Pa. — The City of York announced the addition of new stop signs at an intersection near William Penn High School and McKinley Elementary School.
The intersection of West Maple and Manor Streets is now an all-way stop, the city said in a press release.
Previously, there was only one stop sign for West Maple traffic.
The all-way stop is intended to make the neighborhood safer for both pedestrians and motorists, the city said. The all-way stop will encourage traffic to slow down, and will also address a blind spot at the crossing that has accounted for numerous accidents, according to the city.
The addition will also make it safer for students who are walking to both schools, the city said.
The all-way stop is effective immediately.
