YORK COUNTY, Pa. — Crews in Mt. Wolf Borough are still picking up the pieces after Saturday's storm.
The Northeastern York County Emergency Management Agency confirmed the borough is under an emergency declaration.
Borough officials say most of the damage happened around Mt. Wolf Elementary School and Community Park.
“Mostly between South 4th Street and South 8th Street we had damage, we had trees down, the major damage was at 5th and Maple Street,” said Mayor Maureen Starner.
Tree branches littered the ground while power lines fell, blocking roads.
One line landed on a tree which caused it to smoke.
Some buildings lost power, including the elementary school.
“Our municipal building is right behind the elementary here, and of course the power is out, and we couldn’t open the garage door and get to our backhoe to help,” Starner said.
However, the borough didn’t have to clean up the mess alone.
“East Manchester Township crew[s] came down with their frontend loader to also help us out so [it's] definitely a community-based effort to get everything back to normal,” Starner said.
No injuries were reported, and Mt. Wolf officials say they haven't found any major property damage.
Anyone who does have damage is encouraged to contact the borough directly.
“Anyone who can get us that information to quantify how much damage we have would be helpful, we have no idea at this point,” Starner said
Those damage reports are expected to be filed for a total damage assessment.
FOX43 reached out to Northeastern School District and was able to confirm the elementary school will reopen Tuesday and that electricity was the only issue.
