Code Blue shelter opens for all families across York County

The planning for the facility began last fall and fills a gap for a temporary shelter that was needed in the York area.

YORK COUNTY, Pa. — LifePath Christian Ministries recently opened a new Code Blue family shelter in downtown York for those looking for refuge during extreme cold.

The planning for the facility began last fall and fills a gap for a temporary shelter that was needed in the York area.

While LifePath offers a women's and children's shelter separate from a men's shelter, the new Code Blue facility is open to any and all family units.

"We see in many cases, our most vulnerable populations on the street, those under the age of five [and] those over the age of 65," said Patrick Ball, the interim CEO of LifePath Christian Ministries. "We opened this as a temporary solution during the cold weather so that families have a place to go, to stay intact and provide that dignity as a family."

They emphasize that the shelter is for all families, such as single fathers with children.
