YORK, Pa. — Police have charged a man accused of shooting at the vehicle of a woman he had paid to urinate on him during an alleged encounter at a York County hotel earlier this month.
David Butts, 66, of Harrisburg, is charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault, two misdemeanor counts of simple assault, a misdemeanor count of reckless endangerment, and a misdemeanor count of patronizing a prostitute in connection to the alleged incident, which occurred November 19 at a Days Inn located on Arsenal Road in Manchester Township, according to Northern York County Regional Police.
A second person, Brittany Abosede, 34, of Washington, D.C., was charged in the case, police said.
Abosede's vehicle was struck by gunfire in the alleged incident, according to police.
She initially told arriving officers that she had pulled into the hotel's parking lot to rest on her way from Washington D.C. to New York City when a man approached her with a handgun and shot at her vehicle, and she then left the area.
When police pointed out inconsistencies in her story, she allegedly admitted that she was actually at the motel to perform a paid sexual experience for a man from Harrisburg, later identified as Butts, according to police.
Butts allegedly paid her to urinate on him, Abosede told police.
After the encounter, Abosede reported, she returned to her car when Butts approached, brandishing a handgun. He fired one shot at her car as she left the parking lot; the round struck the car's passenger door, according to police. Investigators found a spent 9mm shell casing in the parking lot.
When he was intereviewd by police, Butts allegedly confirmed that he and Abosede had a sexual encounter, police claim. He said he followed the woman to the parking lot because she had stolen his wallet.
Butts reported he found the wallet in the parking lot after Abosede left.
Police say Butts agreed to travel from Harrisburg to York for further interviews, but he was involved in a vehicle crash on the way and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Officers responding to the crash were able to recover the gun allegedly used in the incident, the NYCRPD said.
Butts was charged on Nov. 27 and arraigned on Nov. 30, according to court records. A preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 4, 2024.
