YORK, Pa. — Police have arrested the suspect in a hit-and-run crash that injured a York County woman in August.

Gary Michael Beaverson, 40, is accused of fleeing the scene in his vehicle after striking a woman riding an electric scooter at 3:51 a.m. on August 25, according to West Manchester Township Police.

The crash occurred on Carlisle Road in front of Delco Plaza, police said.

The victim, though injured, was conscious and able to answer questions when police arrived, authorities said. She reported that the vehicle that struck her fled from the scene, dragging her scooter behind it.

The scooter was later discovered about a half-mile away from the scene on Route 30 near Kenneth Road, according to police.

Authorities did not provide additional details of the investigation or what led them to identify Beaverson as a suspect. He was charged and taken into custody on Wednesday.

Beaverson is facing one first-degree felony count of aggravated assault, a second-degree felony count of aggravated assault, two counts of aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI, a count of accidents involving death or injury while not licensed, and one count of driving under a suspended license.
