YORK, Pa. — A York County man will serve five years in prison for possessing a firearm to aid drug trafficking, U.S. Attorney Gerard M. Karam announced Wednesday.
Hakim Jamison, 37, was sentenced at a hearing Tuesday before U.S. District Court Judge Christopher C. Conner, Karam said.
Jamison previously pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, according to Karam.
He purchased a .45 caliber Glock semi-automatic pistol and a box of Winchester .45 caliber ammunition from Stoneybrook Shooting Supply for two co-defendants, who were using those firearms to progress their own drug trafficking activities, Karam said.
Co-defendants Shiloh Idris Johnson and Kadie Jean Swartz are scheduled for trial on April 1, according to Karam.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christian Haugsby prosecuted the case.
This case was prosecuted under the new criminal provisions of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, which Congress enacted, and the President signed in June 2022. The Act is the first federal statute specifically designed to target the unlawful trafficking and straw-purchasing of firearms.
