HANOVER, Pa. — Now that the snow has let up in central Pennsylvania, Hanover Police on Tuesday reminded residents of the York County borough that the clock is ticking to get their sidewalks shoveled.
A borough ordinance dictates that property owners must have their sidewalks cleared within 24 hours of the end of the snowfall.
Property owners in the borough's general business district have 10 hours to clear their sidewalks unless the snow ends between 5 p.m. and 2 a.m. In that case, police said, property owners have until noon.
Those who violate the ordinance could be subject to fines and/or penalties following borough rules and regulations, the police department said.
For the record, snow accumulation for the storm ceased at 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, the police department said.
