Tractor trailer rolls off road after crash on I-83 South in York County

The crash occurred around 8:53 a.m. near Mile Marker 9.6, about 1.3 miles south of the Loganville Exit, PennDOT said Thursday.

LOGANVILLE, Pa. — The driver of a tractor trailer truck was taken to the hospital from the scene of a crash on Interstate 83 South Thursday morning, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.

The crash occurred at about 8:53 a.m. at Mile Marker 9.5, roughly a mile south of Exit 10 (Loganville), according to a PennDOT spokesperson.

The truck struck the side of a bridge overpass, went through the guiderail on the right shoulder, and traveled about 50 feet down an embankment, the spokesperson said.

The driver was initially trapped inside, but was eventually removed and taken to a local hospital. There were no additional details on his condition.

The right lane of Interstate 83 South was closed following the crash.
