WINDSOR, Pa. — About 3,800 Met-Ed customers in York County lost power Monday afternoon after a circuit breaker opened at a substation in Windsor, a Met-Ed spokesperson told FOX43.
The breaker, which is designed to protect electrical equipment in the substation, tripped at about 1:40 p.m., resulting in a power loss to customers in Red Lion, Windsor borough, Lower Windsor Township, and York Township, the spokesperson said.
"Our crews responded to the substation and patrolled nearby power lines to find the problem, but so far have been unable to determine what caused the breaker to operate," the spokesperson said. "We are working to re-energize our equipment to get the power restored as quickly as possible."
The outage affected 458 customers in Lower Windsor Township, 2,200 customers in Red Lion, 312 customers in the borough of Windsor, 984 customers in Windsor Township, and 511 customers in York Township, Met Ed said.
This is a developing story. FOX43 will provide more information as it becomes available.
