YORK COUNTY, Pa. — Met-Ed will conduct aerial tree-trimming operations across York County this week, officials in Shrewsbury Township said Monday on Facebook.

The trimming will be conducted by Aerial Solutions Inc., a North Carolina-based company that has contracted with Met-Ed for several years. The aerial saw is attached to an MD 500 helicopter to trim back trees for power lines, pipelines, railroads, and governmental agencies.

"Aerial side trimming provides maximum lateral clearances from vegetation that could cause safety or reliability issues," Aerial Solutions said on its website. "Unlike most conventional side trimming methods, the air saw is capable of trimming the vegetation canopy from sky to ground. This can be accomplished in rough terrain and locations that are difficult to access with little or no impacts to natural resources such as wetlands, riparian crossings, and other sensitive areas."

Weather permitting, aerial sawing operations will be conducted in Shrewsbury, Windsor, Lower Windsor, Codorus, Springfield, and York townships, along with the York County boroughs of Loganville and Jacobus.
