Moon Dancer Winery in York County will reopen following court-ordered closure

Moon Dancer Winery will reopen its doors to the public on Friday, June 21.

YORK COUNTY, Pa. — Editor's note: The above video is from June 10.

A popular York County winery will reopen its door to the public following a temporary closure

Moon Dancer Winery announced Wednesday, June 19 that it will reopen for business following a court order that forced the winery to close on June 10.

York County Court Judge Clyde Vedder issued a court order late Tuesday granting Moon Dancer's request to rescind the previous May 20 court order that closed the winery while the court reconsiders the case.

As a result, Moon Dancer Winery will reopen for business beginning Friday, June 21 while litigation continues.

“We are incredibly grateful for the ruling and the opportunity to continue to do what we love most in this world – making and serving delicious wines and ciders for our loyal friends and neighbors while the litigation continues,” said Jim Miller, owner of Moon Dancer Winery.

In 2018, neighbors filed a complaint to the York County Court of Common Pleas, arguing the business violated covenants of the Lauxmont Farms Subdivision, recognized as an exclusive residential community in York County.

The suit cites violations such as the property operating as a business; and regularly hosting commercial events like concerts and weddings.

Plaintiffs also report commercial traffic on their private driveway.

However, an online petition was created to stop the closure of Moon Dancer which garnered more than 6,700 signatures.

“For two decades, we have been honored to serve this community, and it broke our hearts to have to close our doors,” Miller said. “Today, we celebrate not just this second chance to reopen, but we also celebrate the thousands of friends and neighbors who have stood by us and supported us during this difficult time.”

Moon Dancer will reopen for business this weekend with the following schedule:

-Friday, June 21: Open from noon to 10 p.m.; live music from 7 to 10 p.m. featuring 3 Below.

-Saturday, June 22: Open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; live music from noon to 5 p.m. featuring Kerry White.
