New vendors open at York's Central Market

Eight new vendors are now in business, while two others have expanded inside the market.

YORK, Pa. — Nearly a dozen businesses recently opened or expanded inside Central Market in downtown York.

A ribbon cutting was held by Downtown Inc. on Thursday afternoon to celebrate them all.

The organization's executive director, Sarah O'Brien, says this is indicative of how fast Central Market is growing and how much opportunity it provides for small business owners.

"This is a great place to come in and test the market. It's a low barrier for entry for small businesses so it's really a great model," O'Brien explained.

Nasim & Co. sells cheesecake mousse dessert cups and is one of eight new vendors at the market. Owner Nasim Ali recently moved to York from Washington D.C. and this is her first storefront locally.

Ali says she is incredibly excited to be part of the market community.

"You're surrounded by small business owners, like-minded people, you get to interact with local customers, there's so much engagement, you have different customers who come in for lunch and pick up a dessert on the way out, so it's nice to engage with the community," she said.

The new vendors include:

  • Arepapi- Columbian food and arepas
  • Cakes by Lee (expansion)- Cupcakes and specialty desserts
  • Commonly Overlooked (expansion)- House plants
  • Fluffy Floss Factory- Gourmet cotton candy
  • Modest and Honest- Modest women’s fashions
  • Nasim & Co. – Cheesecake mousse dessert cups
  • The Sandwich Artist- Specialty gourmet sandwiches
  • The Soup Dragon- Rustic and original homemade soups and pies
  • Sparklefire Design Studio- Custom gifts and rhinestone creations
