YORK COUNTY, Pa. — One person is dead following a crash in Hopewell Township on Friday evening.

According to the Eureka Volunteer Fire Department, units were dispatched to a crash on the 2000 block of Barrens Road South in Hopewell Township just after 6 p.m., for reports of a car that hit a tree.

The York County Coroner's Office stated that the driver ran off the road into a wooded area, striking multiple trees in the process.

The driver, identified as 56-year-old Kimberly Fowler of Whiteford, Md., was found deceased inside the car.

The fire department confirmed that all evidence leads them to believe the crash occurred most likely Thursday night.

Since the car was hidden by the trees, officials stated that no one knew about the crash until two people spotted debris in a neighboring yard.

The York County Coroner's Office and Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the accident.
